The Therapeutic Recreation Specialist ensures, through planning, implementing, facilitating, evaluating, and documenting recreation, that residents are engaged in programs that will support, validate, and enhance their quality of life. The TRS plays a vital role in the Interdisciplinary Team, working closely with colleagues and the Director and Assistant Director of Therapeutic Programs to ensure an approach to care that is person centered and supports the needs of the resident’s family. Supervising, teaching and coaching volunteers is also a part of what a TRS is expected to do in this role.
