Responsibilities

  • Assist the Director of Therapeutic Recreations in the development and execution of therapeutic recreational services for all residents in accordance with federal, state, and local standards.
  • Help ensure the highest quality recreation program is provided.
  • Assist in developing a full range of therapeutic recreational programs and activities with appropriate concern for residents' physical and emotional limitations and individual interests.
  • Ensure observance of religious days, social events, national holidays, and traditional celebrations when planning the residents' calendar of events.
  • Utilize community support in establishing volunteer programs and intergenerational events.
  • Encourage resident participation in therapeutic recreational activities.
  • Carry out activities appropriate to residents' level of functioning.
  • Know and comply with the Residents' Bill of Rights; advise and instruct residents on issues and changes pertaining to their rights and responsibilities through Resident Council.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy in reporting Resident Council minutes and care plan issues.
  • Report all resident grievances and complaints immediately to the supervisor.
  • Foster feelings of self-worth and respect by treating residents with kindness and understanding.

Requirements

  • Must have a vehicle, a valid driver's license, and a safe driving record.
  • Ability to provide rotating weekend coverage of recreation activities.
  • Must have TRD.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least one year of experience in a rehabilitative or geriatric setting.
