Compass seeks to grow the network of mental health providers in VA by preparing employees to gain relevant and meaningful experience in the field, build professional networks, and gain an understanding of diverse client and family challenges as well as systems of care in our community. The Therapeutic Mentor assists our young clients, who exhibit behavioral challenges, develop and practice positive communication, anger management, and conflict resolution skills in the home and community-based setting.

Responsibilities

• Teaching positive communication skills, practicing anger management skills, and practicing conflict resolution skills.
• Identifying and helping clients engage in positive community activities (examples: volunteerism, part-time employment, recreational sports, etc.).
• Psychoeducation on wellness topics including nutrition, hygiene, and physical activity.
• Service coordination with medical professionals, treatment providers, and other service professionals involved with their clients (i.e., court personnel, psychiatrists, or other community representatives) to ensure continuity of care.

Requirements

• Valid Driver's License and at least 1 year of licensed driving experience.
