Therapeutic Integration Spec

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom teacher in supervising children to ensure their safety and well-being.
• Provide instruction and facilitation to groups and individual children under the direction of the Teacher.
• Collaborate with the Teacher to assess the strengths and needs of children and design appropriate classroom activities.
• Plan activities for assigned groups or individual children.
• Implement the daily schedule as assigned.
• Decorate the room with bulletin boards, pictures, children's artwork, and other hangings.
• Serve breakfast, lunches, and snacks.
• Help with materials and room clean-up and organization.
• Provide a nurturing and supportive environment for children, using positive behavior interventions and preventative strategies to manage classroom behavior.
• Complete required number of training hours each year by attending in-house in-services and local workshops and trainings.
• Assume temporary responsibilities of the teacher in their absence.
• Report any special needs or problems of individual children to the classroom teacher.
• Work with children who have special health care needs, supporting the teacher.
• Report any cases of suspected child abuse and/or neglect to the Director or make a direct call to DCYF (1-800-RICHILD).

Requirements

• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency required.
• Some college credit in the fields of early childhood, special education, or psychology preferred.
• At least 1-year supervised experience working with children with special needs, including social/emotional disorders and/or developmental disabilities in a typical childcare program.
• Ability to follow a 4-month rotating work schedule of 8.5 hours within the times the center is open (7:00 am – 5:30 pm).

Pay

$18.00 - $25.82 per hour

Schedule

• Monday through Friday, 9:00 am – 5:30 pm.
• Daily hours: 8 hours.
