About the role
Assist with day-to-day operations of the Theatre Department.
Responsibilities
- Provide support during theatre productions.
- Help with set construction and maintenance.
- Contribute to the creation of stage designs and visual elements.
- Support with lighting and sound design.
- Engage in various technical theatre tasks as needed.
Requirements
- Current University of La Verne student with Federal Work Study eligibility for the 2023-2024 academic year.
- Demonstrate experience working backstage on more than one high school or college theatre production.
- Show familiarity with tools and techniques related to the theatre such as sewing, painting, drawing, graphic design, carpentry, electrics, electronics, computer software, video, or computer programming.
- Provide a letter of recommendation that speaks to character and experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working backstage on more than one high school or college theatre production.
- Completion of projects related to building or construction or craft at home or at another institution.
- Demonstrate through a portfolio or a letter of recommendation, a familiarity with tools and techniques related to the theatre.
- Patience, a sense of humor, and a sincere desire to help others achieve the highest levels of success in technical theatre.
- Foster life-long learning, diversity, and community building.
Work Schedule
A flexible schedule working weekdays, some evenings and weekends. Ideal candidates can work Monday and Wednesday between 1-4p.
