Theater Assistant, Camp Kaleidoscope, Summer Day Camp

About the role

JCC Greater Boston is seeking enthusiastic, caring, and responsible Theater Assistants to join our Theater team this summer. The position involves working with campers grades 4-8, assisting with auditions, rehearsals, sets, props, and costumes, and supporting a safe and supportive environment.

Responsibilities

• Welcome campers with energy and enthusiasm each morning.
• Prepare for the musical, including auditions, rehearsals, choreography, and set design.
• Support campers and foster a fun, joyful, and inclusive group dynamic.
• Work in partnership with co-counselors and camp leadership to deliver a memorable experience.
• Assist with set-up and clean-up of activities and spaces as needed.
• Support campers' social and emotional development throughout the day.

Requirements

• 10th grade (or equivalent) and eligible for work permit.
• 1+ season of summer camp, semester, babysitting, coaching, or other experience working with children.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at the JCC's discretion.

Physical Requirements

• Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities.
• Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40 pounds.
• Able to sit and kneel; getting down at eye level with children regularly.
• Able to swim and supervise children in pool (able to stand in pool).
• Able to work in variety of weather conditions for extended periods of time.
