About the Project
Duvall Decker is designing and realizing a new 20,767-square-foot, state-of-the-art secure data center facility for the University of Mississippi. This facility will house all critical data communication, academic, service, and research systems. As part of the project, the existing 17,000-square-foot data center will be renovated to accommodate other information, technology support, and academic facilities.
Facility Features
- N+1 redundancy in systems and architecture
- Designed for growth: initial 500kW power capacity with space for expansion up to one megawatt
- Server room located centrally, wrapped by the rest of the facility for protective redundancy
- Double shell roof for redundancy in section and protection from wind damage, rain, and solar heat gain
- Limited windows requiring careful architectural consideration of the building’s skin
- Offset texture brick pattern with each modular brick rotated by ten degrees to create dynamic light and shadow effects
- Three different floor elevations to integrate data center equipment and distribution paths, particularly under the server room’s raised floor system
