About the role
The University Honors College seeks applicants for its part-time lecturer pool. We are seeking experienced, well-organized, and student-centered individuals to teach courses in the Honors Program.
Responsibilities
- Teach courses in the Honors Program
- Work alongside peers, faculty, and staff in classes, workshops, and experiential learning activities
- Support highly-motivated students as they transition from high school into collegiate studies
- Provide a community of support throughout their time at CSUSB
Requirements
- Hold Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Philosophy, English, Communication, or related field at time of employment
- Demonstrate evidence of teaching promise
Preferred Qualifications
- Evidence of scholarly activity, publication, and innovation
- Evidence of exemplary graduate-level teaching and leadership experience at program level
Special Conditions
- Must be willing to undergo a background check
- Must comply with CSU Executive Order 1083
About The Department
The Honors College supports highly-motivated students as they transition from high school into collegiate studies and provides a community of support throughout their time at CSUSB. Peers, faculty, and staff work alongside each other in classes, workshops, and experiential learning activities that include retreats, service-learning, and excursions.

- Cover Letter that includes: A brief statement of your teaching interest/philosophy, a listing of any courses previously taught, whether you can teach at the Palm Desert or San Bernardino Campus and your availability, and a listing of potential courses you would be interested in teaching. If available, evidence of teaching effectiveness such as teaching portfolios, reports on teaching observations, and/or student evaluations of teaching.
- Unofficial copies of all postsecondary degree transcripts (official transcripts will be required prior to appointment)
- Reference List - names, telephone numbers, and email addresses of three (3) referees whom we may contact to obtain letters of recommendation. Confidential letters of recommendation will be solicited from those listed as references on the application if the applicant is moved forward in the recruitment process.
