About the role

DCU Institute of Future Media, Democracy and Society is seeking a researcher to join the research team working with Dr. Jane Suiter on the project titled "Does Deliberation Help Deliver Informed Electorates: Evidence from Irish Referendum Votes." This is a specified purpose contract for a period of 36 months.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on deliberation and referendums in Ireland
  • Work as part of a team on a large-scale research project
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of surveys and experiments
  • Analyse quantitative and qualitative data
  • Write and publish academic papers
  • Disseminate findings to academic and non-academic audiences
  • Assist with project management and reporting

Requirements

  • PhD in Political Science, Sociology, Communication Studies or a related discipline
  • Demonstrated expertise in quantitative research methods
  • Experience with survey design and analysis
  • Strong publication record or potential
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of deliberative democracy theory and practice
  • Experience with experimental methods
  • Familiarity with Irish politics and referendum processes
  • Experience with statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SPSS)

Pay

Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience, within the Postdoctoral Researcher scale.

Schedule

Full-time, fixed-term contract for 36 months.
