International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC) congratulated Dr. Thamires Oliveira Silva from D’Or Institute for Research and Education on being one of their 2025 Young Investigator Awardees.

Project Details

Dr. Silva’s project focuses on Genome-wide DNA Methylation Analysis in Patients with EGFR-mutant Lung Adenocarcinoma. The study aims to investigate whether specific DNA methylation patterns in EGFR-mutated Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC) define prognostic subgroups and influence response to third-generation TKIs like osimertinib. By analyzing tumor methylomes, the goal is to identify patients with intrinsic resistance despite sensitizing EGFR mutations. These findings are expected to inform personalized treatment strategies, refine escalation/de-escalation decisions, and advance precision medicine in thoracic oncology.

Recognition

The IASLC expressed excitement about the potential impact of Dr. Silva’s research and encouraged others to follow its progress.
