About the role
Our new Design Assistant will enjoy working independently while actively helping those around them. They will have a true appreciation for learning, attention to detail, organization, and upholding standards.
Responsibilities
- Independently review strike-offs and yardage for pattern, color, and technique
- Work with internal team members and communicate directly with customers/buyers
- Collaborate with Account Managers, Designers, and International team members to correct or revise sample colors and patterns
- Communicate clearly with our teams in China and occasionally India regarding revised sample requests based on comments and approvals
- Request yardage from factories
- Review, establish, and maintain existing color and pattern standards for production
- Maintain and review processes with customer teams and management
- Assist with creation of presentation boards and/or PDFs for meetings
- Cut and surge swatches for customer submission and standard library records
- Create color, pattern, and fabrication standard records and maintain the library
- Create, label, and maintain standard color chips for customer presentations
- Maintain shared tracking and request spreadsheets of yardage
- Work directly with the Product Development team and customer/brand Account Managers on needed samples and finished swatches
- Support additional sample projects and initiatives as needed
Requirements
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite (especially Excel and Outlook)
- Strong ability to read, write, and communicate in English, following written and sketch requests
- Work independently to complete tasks and daily duties
- Understand and take action on tasks based on priority
- Effectively collaborate with internal team members including Design, Product Development, and Account Management
- Ability to operate and manage home sewing machines: Single-needle, Overlock/Serge Stitch, Coverstitch, etc.
- Ability to sit or stand for periods of time with continuous movements of hands, arms, and fingers while sewing
- Respectfully and clearly communicate directly with overseas vendors
Pay
$20.00–$22.00 per hour based on experience
Schedule
In-office, Monday–Friday, 40 hours weekly
