About the role

The Monarch School and Institute offers an innovative, therapeutic education for individuals with neurological differences. Our Professional Educator plays a crucial role in supporting student growth across four core goal areas using the Monarch Integrated Methodology.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Monarch Integrated Methodology to strengthen relationship development with all students.
  • Support student growth in each of the four core goals of The Monarch School.
  • Work collaboratively with the Therapy Services department and Therapeutic Support faculty to ensure consistent language, actions, and experiences for students.
  • Learns and implements curriculum models such as social mapping, cognitive coaching, relationship development (DIR®), sensory integration, reflective teaching, problem-based learning, and academic focus areas.
  • Plans and implements lessons addressing individual differences and student learning styles.
  • Safeguards and coordinates students' therapeutic agendas in collaboration with the Leadership Team.
  • Reports student progress in designated formats at specific intervals and in a timely manner.
  • Supervises lunch, carpool, off-campus activities, and community/Greenstones meetings as scheduled or as necessary.
  • Facilitates a Student Committee, if assigned.
  • Builds the Monarch community by supporting extracurricular and social events beyond the school day.
  • Collaborates with the Program Director to set and attain yearly goals.
  • Participates in continuing professional education as directed by the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid Teaching Certification to meet state requirements.
  • Certification in Special Education.
  • Certification in grade-appropriate (e.g., 6-12) secondary Math.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Teacher with sufficient time spent in the teaching of special education (preferred).

  • Develop and implement student treatment plans.
  • Support and coordinate students' therapeutic agenda in coordination with Leadership Team.
  • Report student progress in designated formats at specific intervals and in a timely manner.
  • Supervise students/learners at all times.
  • Facilitate a Student Committee, if assigned.
  • Build the Monarch community by supporting extracurricular and social events beyond the school day.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to set and attain yearly goals.
  • Participate in continuing professional education as directed by the Program Director.

Skills

  • Broad knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Promethean board, Google apps, and web-based learning.
