About the role

The Monarch School and Institute offers an innovative, therapeutic education for individuals with neurological differences. The Professional Educator's primary responsibility is to support student growth in the four core goals of The Monarch School.

Responsibilities

  • Implement the Monarch Integrated Methodology to strengthen relationship development with all students.
  • Work collaboratively with the Therapy Services department and Therapeutic Support faculty to ensure consistent language, actions, and experiences for students.
  • Learns and implements curriculum models such as social mapping, cognitive coaching, relationship development (DIR®), sensory integration, reflective teaching, problem-based learning, and academic focus areas.
  • Plans and implements lessons addressing individual differences and student learning styles.
  • Supports and coordinates students' therapeutic agendas in collaboration with the Leadership Team.
  • Reports student progress in designated formats at specific intervals and in a timely manner.
  • Supervises lunch, carpool, off-campus activities, and community/Greenstones meetings as scheduled or as necessary.
  • Facilitates a Student Committee, if assigned.
  • Supports and builds the Monarch community by participating in extracurricular and social events beyond the school day.
  • Collaborates with the Program Director to set and attain yearly goals.
  • Participates in continuing professional education as directed by the Program Director.

Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree.
  • Valid Teaching Certification to meet state requirements.
  • Certification in Special Education.
  • Certification in grade-appropriate Elementary Education.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a Teacher with sufficient time spent in the teaching of special education (preferred).

Expectations

  • Support and coordinate students' therapeutic agenda in coordination with Leadership Team.
  • Report student progress in designated formats at specific intervals and in a timely manner.
  • Supervise students/learners at all times.
  • Facilitate a Student Committee, if assigned.
  • Support and build the Monarch community by participating in extracurricular and social events beyond the school day.
  • Collaborate with the Program Director to set and attain yearly goals.
  • Participate in continuing professional education as directed by the Program Director.

Skills

  • Broad knowledge of MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, Promethean board, Google apps, and web-based learning.
