SUMMARY
The Technician III tunes electronic systems, subassemblies and parts. They conduct a variety of electronic, mechanical and electromechanical tests on electronic systems, subassemblies, and parts to ensure unit functions according to specifications or to determine cause of unit failure. They may also be responsible for completing rework on assemblies and/or systems as a result of testing and assist in the selection and set-up of specialized test equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Read test schedule, work orders, test manuals, performance specifications, wiring diagrams, and schematics to determine testing procedure and equipment to be used.
- Connect and tune units using test equipment including signal generator, frequency meter, network analyzer, or spectrum analyzer.
- Read displays that indicate electronic characteristics such as: voltage, frequency, time delay, distortion, inductance, and capacitance.
- Compare results with specifications, and record test data or plot test results on graph.
- Record defects on tag attached to unit and return unit to production department for repair.
- Test functional performance of systems, subassemblies, and parts under specified environmental conditions such as: temperature change, vibration, pressure and humidity.
- Recommend measures to improve production methods, equipment, performance, and quality products.
- Train/mentor technicians.
- Confer with engineers, technicians, production personnel, and others regarding testing procedures and results to resolve problems.
- Prep test equipment and set-up to evaluate performance and operation of nonstandard or customer-returned units.
- Prepare technical reports, summarize findings, and recommend solutions to technical problems.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Education: Associate degree or military electronics experience
- 3-5 years of experience in the Functional Testing and troubleshooting of RF devices OR Equivalent combination of education and experience
- Desired Qualifications: Experience working with microelectronic products under a microscope, experience soldering and with electronics assembly process, experience performing visual inspections, ability to do basic math in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals, experience working with engineers, knowledge and experience with quality control planning and associated documentation
