Test Technician (Blue Room) - Defense Systems Division

The Defense Systems Division is part of the Parker Aerospace Group, located in Irvine, California. Our products are used across military and commercial platforms globally. We specialize in cutting edge thermal management systems and components including fans, pumps and compressors, ammunition handling systems, weapon scoring systems, dynamic pressure sensors, piezoelectric accelerometers, towed targets, reeling machines, and associated telemetry. For over fifty years, we have been a leader in defense products, contributing to the operational success of some of the most advanced military platforms worldwide.

Responsibilities

• Lays out, builds, tests, troubleshoots, repairs and modifies developmental and production electronics components, parts, equipment, and systems.
• Troubleshoots items to component level, working with engineering personnel when required.
• Performs test activities that include field return and failure analysis from written instructions and drawings.
• Writes reports and failure analyses; reads schematics and troubleshoots to component level.
• Understands Environmental, Vibration, Shock and Acceleration testing to MIL Standards.
• Uses electronic test equipment such as multimeters, microscopes, oscilloscopes, power meters, hi-pot testers, and fiber-optic test gear.

Qualifications

• Associate degree from a two-year college or technical school, or equivalent.
• Minimum of 3 years hands-on experience in environmental electronics; fiber-optic experience is a plus.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
• Ability to interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
• Ability to read, understand and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Ability to prioritize workload, complete tasks in a timely manner, exercise discretion, and pay close attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with co-workers, customers and others by sharing ideas constructively, listening to others, keeping commitments, and addressing problems constructively.
• Ability to interface and relate well with all employees and multiple departments and levels within the Company; strong teamwork/cooperative abilities as well as the ability to work independently.

Skills

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word.
• Experience with multimeters, oscilloscopes, power meters, RF generators, network analyzers, microscopes and spectrum analyzers.

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• Ability to frequently or constantly exert up to 20 pounds of force and occasionally exert up to 50 pounds of force to move/lift objects.
• Occasional travel and driving; proof of valid driver’s license required.
• Occasional extended hours and weekends.
• Physical work requires manipulative skills of a high level.
• Vision requirements include the ability to work at a PC periodically.
• Frequently required to use hands and fingers and reach with hands and arms.
• Ability to hear and speak clearly.
• Regularly required to sit, stand, stoop or reach.
• Work area subject to both air-conditioning and non-air-conditioning.
• Ability to be flexible and deal with changing conditions.
• Shop environment contains hazardous materials, dust, moving equipment, pneumatic equipment, hydraulic equipment, and metal chips from cutting, milling, drilling and turning operations.
• Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; write routine reports and correspondence; speak effectively before groups.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts; apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Clearance & Citizenship

• U.S. Citizenship and Secret security clearance required.

Pay

Competitive hourly pay range: $23.75/hr to $39.55/hr (California, New York, Washington). Compensation is based on experience, qualifications, location and market/business considerations.
