Responsibilities

  • Perform various mechanical, electrical, hydrostatic, and gas leak tests in accordance with established procedures and specifications on stators, rotors, stators-windings, cans, jackets, thermal barriers, thermowells, casings, terminal boxes, pumps, and generators.
  • Install and operate facility-related equipment, such as pumps, motors, and mechanisms.
  • Maintain test records and logbooks for mechanism, hydrostatic, and leak tests.
  • Operate leak test equipment and ovens to dry component parts.
  • Perform minor service functions on operating equipment, such as changing charts, changing oil, replacing orifice plates, or tightening flanges.
  • Operate cranes, fork trucks, or other testing department material handling equipment.
  • Maintain inventory of liquid and dry nitrogen, helium, lithium hydroxide, and existing testing fixtures.
  • Collect and test water samples for resistivity and pH.
  • Set up test facilities and prepare equipment for operational testing, including installation and removal of test articles from the test facility.
  • Calibrate and zero-adjust test instrumentation, such as pressure gauges and Helium Leak detectors, to ensure accurate test data results.
  • Calibrate computer instrumentation, such as pressure transducers, and analyze and modify readout data.
  • Calibrate pressure switches and flow raters.
  • Assist in the operation of test pump facilities.
  • Checkout and operate instrumentation used to monitor equipment tests according to Test Procedures, Routines, or Special Instructions.
  • Perform operational tests and runs on commercial motors according to Test Procedures, Routines, or Special Instructions.
  • Calculate and evaluate test results to determine any deviation from acceptance criteria or comparison to past data and report findings to the Test Engineer or Supervisor.
  • Fabricate and assemble engineering testing devices, such as bearing text fixtures.
  • Revise modes or scopes of tests to obtain meaningful data and collaborate with design engineers to observe phenomena.

Requirements

  • High School graduate with two years of technical school, or the equivalent.
  • Three (3) or more years of experience with mechanical or electrical testing.
  • Experience in electrical, electronic, mechanical fields, or equivalent will be considered.
  • Candidates must be US citizens.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain DoD Security clearances and approvals.

Qualifications

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Experience working with and adhering to written work instructions.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
