This is a 14-month contract (extensions likely) onsite role in Stratford, CT, with a 4-day, 10-hour-per-week schedule. W-2 employment through Stage 4 Solutions; health benefits and 401K are offered.

About the role

The System Integration Lab Engineer provides hands-on technical support and engineering expertise to Sikorsky’s Flight Controls Autonomy & Electrical (FCA&E) organization. Reporting to the FCA&E Lab Lead, you will contribute to the design, development, integration, and verification of high-fidelity Hardware-in-the-Loop (HWIL) and closed-loop test facilities within the System Integration Laboratories (SILS). This role blends systems engineering, test-bed design/operation, and collaborative problem-solving in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the FCA&E Lab Lead in designing, building, integrating, and testing HWIL and closed-loop configurations within the SILS, ensuring compliance with design specifications, safety standards, and Sikorsky engineering practices.
  • Receive, stage, and integrate hardware from subsystem teams; manage interface control documents; and coordinate cross-functional wiring, power, and data connections across system, segment, and supporting engineering groups.
  • Participate actively in technical interchange meetings, provide clear status updates, and contribute to the preparation of deliverables for internal and external customers.
  • Track laboratory-level risks and issues, maintain issue logs, and promptly elevate concerns to the FCA&E Lab Lead or program management while proposing mitigation actions.
  • Capture key performance indicators (KPIs) for SILS activities, generate concise status reports, and assist in metrics dashboards that reflect progress, resource utilization, and test outcomes.
  • Help manage procurement of capital equipment, support facility modification projects, and assist with laboratory infrastructure planning (e.g., power distribution, network cabling, shielding, cooling).
  • Order, receive, and track parts and consumables required for lab activities; maintain accurate inventory records; and coordinate with vendors and internal supply chains to ensure timely availability of components.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline lab processes, update work instructions, and adopt new tools or methodologies that enhance test efficiency and data quality.
  • Produce and maintain engineering documentation including schematics, block diagrams, procedures, results, and lessons-learned packages in accordance with Sikorsky configuration control requirements.
  • Develop detailed schematics and system block diagrams using industry-standard tools such as Microsoft Visio, Mentor Graphics, Zuken, and Siemens NX/3DX.

Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 4+ years of experience with schematic design and designing the facilities/labs where tests will be conducted, specifically contributing to the design, development, integration, and verification of test facilities.
  • Previous experience designing test facilities to support HWIL and closed-loop testing.
  • Test-bed design and hardware integrations for test labs.
  • Logistics of ordering, receiving, and tracking equipment in support of setting up test labs.
  • Infrastructure planning for test labs.
  • Proficiency developing detailed schematics and system block diagrams using tools such as Microsoft Visio, Mentor Graphics, Zuken, and Siemens NX/3DX.
  • Proficiency with real-time simulation tools (e.g., MATLAB/Simulink, LabVIEW, NI VeriStand).
  • Strong understanding of hardware integration, signal conditioning, power distribution, and data acquisition systems.
  • Familiarity with aerospace standards and specifications (e.g., Arinc-429, MIL-STD-1553, DO-160, MIL-STD-810, ARP-4754).
  • Experience managing parts logistics, ordering, receiving, inventory control, and vendor coordination.
