About the role

This role provides advanced engineering support to the Systems Integration and Maintenance Office (SIMO), with a primary focus on A/MH-6, MH-47, MH-60 platforms, avionics, sensors, aircraft survivability equipment (ASE), and weapon programs. The Test & Evaluation Engineer plans, executes, and analyzes flight and systems tests to ensure mission-critical military aviation systems meet stringent performance, safety, and reliability requirements in support of specialized aviation operations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop comprehensive test plans for aircraft platforms, avionics, sensors, ASE, and weapon systems, ensuring alignment with program requirements and test objectives.

  • Coverage all test activities, including test range scheduling, resource planning, and test event logistics to support timely and efficient execution.

  • Oversee data collection, reduction, and processing during and after tests, and contribute to technical reports and test documentation.

  • Apply and administer the requirements of AR 70-62 as they relate to Army Special Operations Aircraft, ensuring compliance with applicable test and evaluation policies and procedures.

  • Participate as an active member of Technical Interface Meetings (TIM), Program Reviews, Test Integration Working Groups (TIWG), and System Safety Working Groups (SSWG), providing technical input and test expertise.

  • Serve in a Flight Test Engineering capacity during aerial flight activities, supporting test execution, instrumentation, and real-time evaluation of test conditions and results.

  • Collaborate closely with engineering counterparts, including the Safety Readiness Division (SRD) and the Technology Application Program Office (TAPO), to integrate test results into system design, safety assessments, and readiness evaluations.

  • Support mission-driven aerospace and defense programs by contributing engineering expertise to advanced aircraft systems, sensors, avionics, directed energy, and other cutting-edge defense technologies.

  • Contribute to a small, high-impact engineering team where you influence project outcomes and support elite aviation organizations through high-visibility test and evaluation work.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience working in military or commercial aviation.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience planning and conducting flight tests.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, or Engineering related field.

  • Demonstrated experience developing and executing detailed test plans for aircraft systems and subsystems.

  • Hands-on flight test experience, including test planning, coordination, execution, and data analysis.

  • Experience working with military aviation platforms and associated systems such as avionics, sensors, ASE, and weapons.

  • Ability to interpret and apply AR 70-62 requirements to test and evaluation activities for Army aviation or similar platforms.

  • Eligible, Active, re-activatable, or interim Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.

  • Strong coordination and communication skills to work effectively within technical meetings, working groups, and cross-functional engineering teams.

Qualifications

Skills

  • Experience supporting Army Special Operations Aircraft or similar specialized aviation units.

  • Familiarity with System Safety Working Groups (SSWG), Test Integration Working Groups (TIWG), Technical Interface Meetings (TIM), and formal Program Reviews.

  • Working with advanced aerospace and defense technologies such as directed energy systems and complex avionics architectures.

  • Ability to perform both technical engineering work and supporting administrative or logistics tasks as needed in a test organization.

  • Motivation to contribute to mission-driven work that supports national security and Special Operations missions.

  • Interest in working in a smaller, high-impact engineering environment where individual contributions are visible and influential.

  • Willingness to relocate independently to the Fort Campbell area; a hiring bonus may be available to assist with relocation for highly qualified candidates.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $90000.00 - $125000.00/yr.
