About the role

You will provide hands-on engineering support for powertrain development testing, ensuring reliable operation of engine, vehicle, and emissions laboratories. In this role, you will ensure test systems, equipment, and processes are fully prepared for reliable execution, troubleshoot lab systems, and drive continuous improvement of laboratory capabilities and processes. You will work closely with cross-functional engineering teams to deliver accurate, high-quality test data that supports product development decisions.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day powertrain testing activities in engine and chassis dynamometer laboratories
  • Prepare, set up, and troubleshoot test equipment, instrumentation, and software to maintain lab readiness and minimize downtime
  • Design and support development of test fixtures, test beds, and laboratory layouts
  • Serve as a technical resource for specialized systems, including emissions equipment and portable measurement systems
  • Develop and improve test procedures, methods, and automated test sequences
  • Analyze test data to ensure accuracy, integrity, and alignment with engineering objectives
  • Identify and implement improvements to lab efficiency, capability, and reliability
  • Support installation, commissioning, and maintenance of new test equipment and lab upgrades
  • Execute small- to medium-scale projects related to lab systems, equipment, and process improvements
  • Develop and maintain scripts or tools to automate testing, data analysis, and reporting
  • Collaborate with engineering teams, facilities, IT, and external vendors to support lab operations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical degree
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in powertrain testing, laboratory testing, or related engineering work
  • Strong understanding of internal combustion engines and engine subsystems
  • Hands-on experience with engine or chassis dynamometers and related control systems
  • Experience with emissions measurement systems and laboratory testing workflows
  • Experience with programming or scripting tools such as MATLAB, Python, or VBA
  • Familiarity with CAD tools for fixture or equipment design
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, and software systems
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to clearly document and explain technical information
