Test Engineer IV
Location: Redmond, WA (Onsite) – 26-week contract, 5 days per week

About the role
Owns the reliability strategy and execution for research hardware programs, working across engineering and research teams. Develops comprehensive reliability test plans, including sequential "waterfall" campaigns across different hardware build phases. Plans and executes testing at both component and full-system levels, defining sample sizes, test conditions, acceptance criteria, and pass/fail limits. Designs and validates new mechanical, electrical, and software test setups and analyzes reliability data using statistical methods. Leads failure analysis and root-cause investigations, driving defects to closure with ME, EE, design, manufacturing, and supply partners.
Requirements
- 7+ years of hands-on reliability, test, or product validation engineering experience in consumer electronics.
- 5+ years of experience with JMP, Python, MATLAB, or equivalent for reliability/test data analysis.
- Strong failure analysis, root-cause analysis, and defect-closure experience across multiple engineering disciplines.
- Knowledge of industry reliability/test standards, particularly ASTM, MIL, JEDEC, and IEC.
- Knowledge of failure-analysis techniques such as optical microscopy, X-Ray, CT, SEM, EDX, and FTIR.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Materials Science, or related technical field/equivalent experience.
- On-site availability in Redmond, WA; the position cannot be performed remotely.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- 5+ years of 3D CAD modeling, particularly NX or SolidWorks.
- Mechanical fabrication experience.
- Experience assembling complex electro-mechanical systems.
- Experience specifying/integrating instrumentation and motion-control systems, including motors, drivers, encoders, pressure transducers, accelerometers, and flow sensors.
Pay
$63 – $83 per hour
