Test Engineer

About the role

BWXT is seeking a Test Engineer to join our Advanced Technologies group. This position is based in Lynchburg, VA at the Advanced Technologies Office.

Responsibilities

• Support testing programs during all phases of the design process.
• Develop test plans to address testing requirements provided by other cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with internal teams to ensure the planned testing meets their needs.
• Design and build test equipment, and coordinate with the Operations team for setup and commissioning.
• Execute testing in collaboration with Operations team, ensuring operational discipline and safety.
• Analyze test data and evaluate test results against defined objectives.
• Prepare detailed test reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline).
• A minimum of two (2) years of related experience.
• Experience with disciplined operations.
• Technical background in engineering design.
• Experience collaborating with multiple internal teams and intercompany teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to self-direct with minimal day-to-day supervision.
• U.S. Citizenship.
• Active DOD or DOE Security Clearance (preferred).

Qualifications

• A bachelor’s degree in engineering or physics (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, or a related discipline).

• Must possess a technical background in engineering design.
• Must have experience collaborating effectively with multiple internal teams and intercompany teams.
• Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills.

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) or Department of Defense (DOD) security clearance, whichever is required.

Skills

• Experience with the design and/or operation of fluid systems and instrumentation and control for nuclear applications.
• Experience with instrumentation and control systems and automation.
• Hands-on experience with building and operating test setups and equipment.

Pay

The base salary range for this position in Virginia (US-VA) at the start of employment is expected to be between $76,000.00 and $157,000.00 per year. However, the base salary offered is based on local job market factors, and may vary further depending on factors specific to the selected job candidate, such as job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and other objective business considerations. Subject to these considerations, the total compensation package for this position may also include other elements, such as an annual cash incentive in addition to a full range of medical, retirement, and/or other benefits. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided at such time the selected job candidate receives an offer of employment.
