Test Automation Engineer

Senior Test Lead / Test Automation Engineer Location: Bergen, New Jersey Work Setting: Onsite Experience: 7 9 years / 9+ relevant years Position Type: Contractor Job Summary We are seeking a skilled Senior Test Lead / Test Automation Engineer to oversee testing activities and develop, implement, and maintain robust test automation frameworks. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with Selenium, Java, BDD, Cucumber, and automated testing for web and API applications. Key Responsibilities Develop and implement test strategies, plans, procedures, and test automation solutions.Lead and manage testing activities, including test execution, defect reporting, and delivery of testing milestones.Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites for web and API testing.Identify manual testing processes that can be automated and implement effective automation solutions.Create and execute test plans, test cases, test scenarios, and test scripts.Utilize Selenium and Java to automate test cases and improve testing efficiency.Maintain, optimize, and enhance test automation frameworks.Collaborate with developers, product managers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements and establish comprehensive testing strategies.Perform manual and exploratory testing when required, particularly for edge cases.Analyze test results, track defects, and work with development teams to resolve issues.Perform web service/API automation using Rest Assured and Postman.Apply suitable testing techniques based on business requirements.Stay current with testing tools, technologies, methodologies, and best practices.Continuously improve automation frameworks and testing processes.Mentor junior QA team members on automation practices and tools.Collaborate with stakeholders to achieve testing objectives and quality goals. Required Qualifications 5+ years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years focused on test automation.Strong experience with Selenium test automation.Experience maintaining, optimizing, and executing automated test frameworks.Strong knowledge of Java and OOP concepts.Experience with BDD and Cucumber.Hands-on experience writing test scenarios and test scripts.Experience with web service/API automation using Rest Assured and Postman.Familiarity with DevOps methodologies, particularly Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD).Strong knowledge of SQL and relational database testing.Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.Ability to understand business requirements and develop appropriate testing techniques.Excellent communication and collaboration skills.Proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous learning. Preferred Qualifications ISTQB certification or equivalent.Experience with performance testing tools such as JMeter or LoadRunner.Knowledge of Oracle and MongoDB database testing and queries.Experience in the payments industry, including payment systems and processes.Familiarity with ISO 20022 standards and their application in payment messaging.Familiarity with Agile methodologies.
