Test Automation Developer / SDET - C#/.NET & Playwright

Location: Seattle, WA – onsite only. Candidates must be within commuting distance or have a confirmed relocation plan.

Employment type: 1099 contract. Pay: $42/hour. Background check required. Immediate start.

About the role

We are hiring a hands-on Senior Test Automation Developer / SDET to build and maintain scalable automation frameworks and end-to-end test suites across UI, REST API, and data/database layers.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable test automation frameworks from scratch
• Develop UI automation using Playwright or Cypress
• Build REST API automation using C#/.NET and NUnit
• Develop end-to-end test strategies covering UI, API, and database/data layers
• Perform API-driven content validation and work with mocked/stubbed services
• Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions)
• Configure automated test execution across multiple environments
• Implement parallel test execution and automated reporting
• Execute tests using dotnet test and work with NUnit/TRX reporting
• Validate REST APIs, HTTP responses, status codes, payloads, authentication, and business rules
• Perform backend/data validation using SQL where required
• Troubleshoot flaky tests and complex UI/API automation failures
• Follow Git development practices including branching, pull requests, and code reviews
• Use AI-assisted development/testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) to accelerate automation development, improve test stability, and support debugging/root-cause analysis
• Collaborate with developers, product teams, and QA engineers in an Agile/Scrum environment

Requirements

• Strong hands-on C# / .NET development experience
• Strong NUnit automation experience
• Strong REST API automation using C#/.NET
• Strong Playwright or Cypress UI automation experience
• Proven experience building automation frameworks from scratch
• Strong understanding of REST APIs, HTTP methods/status codes, JSON, and API validation
• Experience testing across UI + API + database/data layers
• Experience with Azure DevOps, Jenkins, or GitHub Actions
• Experience with dotnet test, NUnit/TRX reporting, environment configuration, and parallel execution
• Strong Git experience including branching, PRs, merges, and code reviews
• Experience with mocks, stubs, or service virtualization
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments
• Hands-on experience using AI tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot) for test development, debugging, analysis, or automation improvement

Preferred Qualifications

• Senior SDET/Test Automation background with strong coding ability
• Experience with TypeScript/JavaScript
• SQL/database validation experience
• Experience with Docker or containerized test execution
• Experience troubleshooting CI/CD test failures
• Experience designing enterprise-scale automation architecture
