The Test & Development Engineer plays a critical role in validating the performance, durability, reliability, and safety of JCB construction and agricultural equipment. This position supports product development through structured test planning, execution, data collection, and failure analysis. The Test & Development Engineer ensures that products meet JCB’s technical standards, regulatory requirements, and customer expectations.

Location: JCB Manufacturing Inc, 2000 Bamford Blvd, Pooler, GA 31322

Responsibilities

  • Develop test plans, procedures, and instrumentation setups to evaluate machine systems, components, and performance characteristics.
  • Execute laboratory and field-based validation tests, including durability cycles, structural testing, hydraulic performance tests, and functional evaluations.
  • Instrument machines using sensors and data acquisition systems to capture critical performance data.
  • Analyze collected data to identify trends, deviations, root causes of failures, and opportunities for design improvement.
  • Prepare detailed test reports and communicate findings to engineering, design, and leadership teams.
  • Support prototype build activities, including system integration checks and design feedback during machine commissioning.
  • Maintain accurate records of test conditions, equipment status, test hours, calibration information, and test results.
  • Participate in continuous improvement activities for test methods, processes, and equipment.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Experience with product testing, validation, or engineering development (internships and co-ops included).
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and CAD models.
  • Proficiency in mechanical, hydraulic, or electrical system fundamentals.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to work with test data and measurement instruments.
  • Effective communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Must pass any drug screens, background checks, and any pre-employment tests, which will be conducted in accordance with applicable law.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience testing heavy equipment, off-highway machinery, or automotive systems.
  • Hands-on familiarity with sensors (strain gauges, pressure transducers, accelerometers) and data acquisition systems.
  • Knowledge of reliability engineering practices, root cause analysis (RCA), and failure mode analysis (FMEA).
  • Experience with hydraulic, electrical and powertrain system testing, CANbus tools, and/or diagnostic software.
  • Mechanical aptitude and the ability to perform hands-on machine inspections and instrumentation tasks.

Schedule

  • Must be able to work flexible schedule, including Friday - Sunday 6am - 6pm.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs, frequently lift and/or move up to 35 lbs, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
  • Perform continuous, repetitious physical activities involving fine movements or large motions.
  • Grasp/pinch small items, reach out and up, and turn wrist.
  • Keep pace with current production speed.
  • Push/pull with reasonable force.
  • Perform bending, stooping, climbing, kneeling, and standing for extended periods of time.
  • Work in multiple climates including hot/cold temperatures and dusty environments.
