Primary Job Responsibilities

  • Generate new sales and revenue by researching untapped market sectors.
  • Manage and maintain existing customer relations through constant contact and communication.
  • Efficiently manage assigned sales areas, including qualifying prospects, handling minor grievances, helping collect payments, and acting as a liaison to the parts and service department for clients.
  • Monitor and be cost-conscious of traveling expenses for the region.
  • Participate in trade shows and conferences.
  • Maintain a log of activity, call reporting system, and/or CRM for assigned region.
  • Learn and increase product knowledge through job site visits, attending training sessions, and preparing for calls.
  • Represent all product lines carried by IDE in assigned regions.
  • Follow all IDE policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Sales Development seminars once a year.
  • Serve as a brand ambassador for IDE and its suppliers.
  • Arrange and schedule sales trips for the purpose of obtaining new sales leads and opportunities.
  • Market IDE services and product lines and introduce new innovations to clients.
  • Help provide solutions based on IDE resources that can be supplied to clients.
  • Increase region revenue by researching and making cold calls to new prospects, following up on leads, and closing deals.
  • Investigate client's needs and challenges, researching their current equipment and tooling status.

Job Requisites

  • The individual should be personable, a problem solver, self-motivated, take initiative, a leader of people, ethical, intelligent, and able to adapt to all forces around them - customers, suppliers, department employees, co-workers, and manufacturers' employees.
  • Education/Training/Experience: High school diploma or equivalent, 1-2 years of sales experience in a similar industry.
  • Skills: Strong organizational skills, strong communication skills, excellent personnel relation skills, good computer and systems knowledge including Microsoft Office programs, ability to manage multiple customer data, and priorities, and develop relationships with internal, potential, and external customers as well as manufacturer's representatives, attention to detail, excellent verbal and written communication skills, basic understanding of systems such as recordkeeping and filing, ability to work independently.

Physical Requirements

  • Use of hands, fingers, and wrists frequently.
  • Daily work behind an office desk, use of computer and telephone work.
  • Onsite visits to clients which may require physically inspecting job sites to determine client needs.
  • May need to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally.

Work Hours and Environment

  • Office environment occasionally.
  • Frequent travel exposure to weather and elements at client sites.
  • Remote work and frequent travel.
