About the Role
The Design Services In-Home Artisan Lead partners closely with the Design Manager to create container and garden design projects in-store, off-site, and in private residential settings. Serving as a lead artisan, this role provides day-to-day guidance, support, and technical expertise to the Design Services Artisan team while modeling Terrain’s design standards and customer expertise. The Design Services Lead upholds four promises: to welcome, to inspire, to inform, and to appreciate our customer.
Responsibilities
- Customer Experience
- Actively participates in upholding the retail service environment by delivering thoughtful, personalized service that exceeds customer expectations and builds authentic, lasting relationships.
- Creates memorable experiences by championing Terrain standards in-store and off-site.
- Understands Terrain concepts and partners with clients to create a cohesive environment through compelling container installations and garden design projects.
- Exhibits an understanding of and interest in home and garden trends in art, style, color, and design; translates trends and customer needs into brand-appropriate designs.
- Teamwork + Communication
- Takes initiative and works productively solo or within a team to achieve design goals; actively participates in daily meetings and shares relevant information regarding plant design projects.
- Builds and maintains productive partnerships with members of the store and design team, contributing to a culture of strong communication and teamwork; is open and responsive to feedback.
- Operates as an expert and resource for Design Service Artisans when projects or workload require problem-solving or reprioritization.
- Communicates daily with the Design Manager on client consultations, design details, and project updates; manages client design files and ensures prompt customer communication with project inquiries.
- Visual + Business Operations
- Understands the impact of a seasonally driven business. Prioritizes projects and monitors progress with timelines while staying within the client budget.
- Understands and applies design principles to execute projects with a high level of craft; maintains cleanliness and organization of back-of-house display areas.
- Adheres to the store’s safety standards, inventory accuracy, reduction of product loss, and upholds all company policy and procedures to support the profitability of the store.
Requirements
- Experience in horticulture and floral design.
- Art and design background.
- Ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs.
- Must be willing and able to work outside in all weather conditions.
- Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of the retail design business and off-site design projects.
