Terminal Rail Technician - East Chicago, IN

We operate from 22 full-service facilities, 40 bulk terminals, and 52 railcar terminals across the country, with strategic locations near major ports and extensive rail infrastructure.
Essential Functions
Perform essential rail functions in a safety-sensitive and production environment.
Maintain property and equipment preservation at each location, including groundskeeping.
Inspect all inbound and outbound railcars daily and report major issues immediately.
Operate with company-issued personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times.
Use company-issued electronic devices like radios, tablets, printers, and cell phones.
Qualifications
At least 21 years old
Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
Familiarity with basic computer skills, including email, Microsoft Word, and Excel
Reliable means of transportation
Comfortable working outside in various weather conditions
Physical ability to lift up to 55 lbs, move up to 250 lbs, climb ladders, and use hand tools
Railcar experience is a plus
Physical Demands
Able to perform physical labor such as lifting, moving, climbing, and using hand tools
Good vision abilities, including close visual confirmation of documents, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and focusing on objects at any safe working distance
Skills
Proven interpersonal skills, including relationship development and management
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Recognition of onsite risk factors and appropriate action-taking
Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
Multi-tasking ability and decision-making in the company's best interest
Work Environment
Performing essential rail functions in a safety-sensitive and production environment in and around a warehouse and railyard
Full-time, non-exempt position with occasional long hours, coverage for other full-time employees, assistance at other sites, and weekend/holiday work as needed
Scheduled shift hours from 3am – 11:30am
