Terminal Manager

About the Role

This position manages the operations of a multi-product, bulk liquid marine and/or pipeline terminal. Directs inventory management, product quality assurance, community relations, regulatory compliance, asset protection, maintenance and capital projects, and supervision of terminal personnel and operations.

Responsibilities

• Conducts and supervises all operations in a safe and efficient manner to ensure compliance with all applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
• Leads, develops, manages, and motivates direct reports, contractors, and employees.
• Enforces and oversees compliance with all Company Policies and Procedures.
• Coordinates shipments into and out of facility’s tankage.
• Ensures correct product quality testing according to company procedures.
• Conducts routine operation inspections.
• Responsible for the accuracy and completeness of all inventory and monitoring of product variations at the terminal.
• Confirms meter calibration, line testing, and other integrity programs as necessary.
• Schedules and coordinates terminal maintenance with terminal operators and third-party contractors to ensure operational readiness.
• Acts as Incident Commander for the terminal in the event of an emergency.
• Maintains good communication with the customer base.
• Maintains a thorough understanding of all third-party commercial contracts (TSAs) assigned to the terminal.
• Responsible for the development, management, and execution of the yearly operating budget.
• Develops capital projects and maintenance programs, including costs and justification.
• Provides oversight of all projects and activities at the facility.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• Minimum of 5 years of pipeline and/or terminaling experience.
• High School Diploma or equivalent (Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent work experience).
• Possess and maintain a valid driver’s license.
• Up to 10% travel required.

Skills

• Ability to manage operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and customer relations.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and empower subordinates to safely and effectively operate the terminal.
• Clear and precise written and oral communication skills for all levels and settings.
• Ability to learn and effectively use company inventory management, HR, and support systems.
• Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations related to bulk products.
• Intermediate to advanced math skills.
• Ability to supervise contractors in accordance with company policies and procedures.
• Proficiency with computer applications, including Microsoft Office; experience with terminal automation software (e.g., Toptech) preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Normal exposure to weather and temperature extremes, loud noises, chemicals and fumes, dust, heights, or work safety hazards.
• Normal physical mobility, including light lifting, bending, and climbing.
• Ability to move from place to place on the job, considering distance and speed.
• Normal physical agility, including the ability to maneuver the body while in place.
• Must be able to climb heights in excess of 60’, ascend stairs or ladders, work atop tanks, and traverse metal walkways at heights.
• Normal physical strength to handle 20-50 lb objects, with frequency taken into consideration.
• Ability to lift 50-75 lbs on an infrequent basis.
• May supervise work in confined spaces (e.g., tanks, between compressors, vessels).
• Normal dexterity of hands and fingers.
• Normal coordination, including eye-hand and hand-foot.
• Normal endurance, concentration/intensity, memory, and decision-making ability.
• Ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
• Normal ability to see, distinguish colors, hear, smell, and taste.
• Normal sense of touch.

Working Environment

• Regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions and temperature extremes.
• Regular exposure to cramped spaces, loud noises, chemicals and fumes, dust, heights, or work safety hazards.
• Regularly exposed to work in high, precarious places.
• Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, hand tools, and small to medium-sized power tool use.
• The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
• Physical presence at the work site during regularly scheduled hours is required.

Successful candidates must complete a drug screen, functional employment physical, and background check.
