Terminal Heavy Equipment Mechanic

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance as scheduled.
• Inspect and audit equipment usage and checklists periodically for issues.
• Generate parts requisitions for repairs.
• Correct equipment deficiencies with proper diagnosing techniques.
• Provide input on preventing inadvertent equipment breakdowns.
• Remove parts, major assemblies, sub-assemblies, and components.
• Work on various systems such as power and drive trains, electrical, HVAC, fuel, emissions, steering, hydraulics, and pneumatics.
• Complete shop operations by making adjustments, and alignments to items like bearing loads, gear tooth contact, valve mechanisms, oil systems, control linkages, clutches, brakes, and traction units.
• Verify equipment performance by conducting test drives and making adjustments to controls and systems.
• Comply with equipment requirements by testing engine, safety, and combustion control standards.
• Maintain equipment records by annotating services and repairs on work orders.
• Participate in all Safety and Health Training requirements as scheduled.
• Assist in other areas of business as needed.
• Attend and participate in all daily, weekly/monthly toolbox meetings, safety meetings and/or stand-downs.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 10+ years of experience and/or certifications are required.
• Must have the ability to work on multiple fronts simultaneously.
• Must have or be able to obtain specialized training and certifications that must be completed and maintained.
• Must be able to read and interpret parts manuals, drawings, diagrams, and schematics.
• Must have or be able to obtain a TWIC card.
• Must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license.
• Must pass all pre-employment testing including a drug test, physical and background check.
