About the role

Mitchell Hamline School of Law seeks a tenured or tenure-track faculty member to work with the Native American Law and Sovereignty Institute ("NALS Institute"). The anticipated start date is July 1, 2027.

Responsibilities

  • Teach and write in the area of Native American Law
  • Contribute to teaching, scholarship, faculty governance, curricular leadership, and strategic development of the law school
  • Teach across multiple modalities: in-person classes, synchronous online classes, and blended learning classes
  • Assist in delivering mandatory Native American law courses within the NALS Certificate within the NALS Institute

Requirements

  • Distinguished academic credentials, including a J.D. from an ABA-accredited law school
  • At least five years of practice and/or clinical or externship teaching experience
  • Experience fostering or ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment

  • Experience with fostering or the ability to foster an inclusive and equity-centered teaching, learning, departmental, and research environment where all can thrive

Skills

  • Legal practice or community service experience
  • A scholarly approach that contributes to the legal system's impact on underserved groups
  • Effective strategies for the educational advancement of students from underrepresented groups

Pay

The anticipated annual salary range is from $105,000-$160,000 depending on qualifications and appointment.

Schedule

Candidates will be expected to be available to teach in our in-person and blended modalities.
