About the role
The Department of Public Service and Administration (PSAA) in The Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M University invites nominations and applications for a tenure review upon hire position at the advanced associate professor or full professor level, starting in August 2027. The successful candidate at the full professor level will be nominated for appointment as the Hazel Davis and Robert M. Kennedy Endowed Chair in Government and Public Service.
The Bush School of Government and Public Service, founded in 1997 under President George H. W. Bush’s philosophy that “public service is a noble calling,” has become a leading international affairs, political science, and public affairs institution. PSAA faculty teach courses in the master’s degree and new undergraduate major in Public Service and Administration and benefit from collaboration across the Bush School's programs in public policy, public management, nonprofit management, homeland security, and related fields. Responsibilities
- Carry out a vigorous program of research.
- Actively contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching.
- Provide service to the university and the profession.
Requirements
- Doctorate in public policy, public administration, public affairs, economics, political science, or a related field.
- Demonstrated commitment to high-quality research and teaching in a professional school of public affairs.
Qualifications
- Strong research and teaching interests across traditional subfields of public management and administration.
- Ability to teach core courses in public administration at both undergraduate and graduate levels, including state and local policy and management, public budgeting, public management, cross-sector collaboration, leadership, ethics, and program evaluation.
Schedule
Full-time, 9‑month appointment with a standard 2‑2 teaching load.
