About the Department

The College of Pharmacy at UGA is a distinguished institution known for excellence in pharmacy education, research, and community service. The Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences offers a dynamic environment for advancing pharmaceutical sciences and education.

About the Role

The Department of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Sciences in the College of Pharmacy at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time tenure-track or tenured position at the level of Associate or Full Professor. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality education at the undergraduate and graduate levels, establish and maintain an innovative, extramurally funded research program, and contribute to the service mission of the college.

Responsibilities

  • Support the delivery of undergraduate, professional, and graduate programs of the College of Pharmacy (50% of time).
  • Develop and sustain a nationally recognized program of research (45% of time).
  • Support the service mission of the College of Pharmacy (5% of time).

Research Areas of Interest

Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

  • AI/computational drug discovery
  • Computational or virtual drug screening
  • Chemical biology
  • Pharmacology
  • Immunology
  • Cancer biology
  • Drug formulation or drug delivery
  • Medicinal chemistry
  • Toxicology
  • Systems biology

Requirements

  • Ph.D. or equivalent terminal degree in biology, medicine, chemistry, physics, bioengineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of three years of experience as a tenure-track Assistant Professor (or equivalent).
  • At least three years of postdoctoral training.
  • A strong record of research, scholarship, and instruction commensurate with career stage and aligned with the department’s focus areas.
  • To be eligible for tenure on appointment, candidates must have been tenured at a prior institution and bring a demonstrably national reputation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in leading funded, team-based research.
  • Focus on interdisciplinary scholarship addressing critical societal challenges.
