Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Dramatic Literature and History

College of the Holy Cross invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor or an untenured Associate Professor in Theatre History and Dramatic Literature, beginning August 2027.

About the Role

The successful candidate will specialize in Theatre History and Dramatic Literature with a focus on non-Western, diasporic, or underrepresented cultures. Responsibilities include teaching standard major courses in Theatre History and Modern Drama, as well as courses in their area of specialization. The candidate will also direct productions as part of the mainstage season, substituting for one course per year. Opportunities exist to teach interdisciplinary courses, first-year seminars (Montserrat), and courses in the College Scholars Program.

Responsibilities

• Teach standard major courses in Theatre History and Modern Drama.
• Develop and teach courses in non-Western, diasporic, or underrepresented theatre cultures.
• Direct productions as part of the mainstage season (in lieu of one course per year).
• Teach interdisciplinary courses, first-year seminars (Montserrat), and College Scholars Program courses.
• Engage in scholarship and contribute to the department’s NAST-accredited program.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. in Theatre History, Dramatic Literature, or a related field (required by the start of the appointment).
• Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and scholarship.
• Commitment to inclusive pedagogies and evidence-based teaching strategies.
• Prior experience in both teaching and directing.
• Specialization in non-Western, diasporic, or underrepresented theatre cultures.

Pay

• $102,500 for an assistant professor with no prior tenure-track experience or one year of prior tenure-track experience.
• $106,500–$109,500 for an assistant professor with two or more years of prior tenure-track experience.
• $112,000–$114,500 for faculty entering as untenured associate professors.
