Position Overview
Concordia University, St. Paul’s College of Education is seeking an exceptional, forward-thinking educational leader to join our graduate faculty as a full-time faculty member within the Doctoral Education (Ed.D.) and Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) programs. This role is designed for an individual who is passionate about teaching, research/scholarship, and mentoring doctoral students, and who also possesses the long-term vision and drive to potentially advance into broader academic leadership.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Initial appointment: Ed.D. Educational Leadership; future focus: Strengthen and support leadership of Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) programming.
- Teach graduate-level courses within doctoral education.
- Serve as a dissertation chair or committee member, guiding doctoral candidates through the research, writing, and defense processes.
- Advise doctoral students, supporting their professional and scholarly development.
- Build relationships with school districts and other educational leadership institutions to inform curriculum and develop pathways into the Ed.S. and Ed.D. programs.
- Partner with internal stakeholders to understand the operational, curricular, and compliance frameworks of our doctoral education programs.
- Participate in curriculum revision, program assessment, and strategic planning aligned with institutional growth goals.
- Demonstrate administrative aptitude, strategic thinking, and collaborative leadership within doctoral educational leadership programs.
- Maintain an active agenda of scholarship, publication, or professional presentations contributing to the field of educational leadership.
- Contribute to a collaborative, inclusive, and student-centered department culture.
Qualifications Required
- An earned doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in Educational Leadership (preferred), Higher Education Administration, Curriculum and Instruction, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
- Valid Minnesota Principal or Superintendent License or ability to obtain licensure.
- 5 years full-time educational leadership experience in a PreK-12 setting.
- Demonstrated success in teaching at the graduate level (doctoral level preferred).
- Strong evidence of professional, administrative, or collaborative leadership potential within higher education.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Experience serving on or chairing doctoral dissertation committees.
- Experience navigating state teacher and administrative licensure requirements.
- Experience with online learning management systems and diverse adult learner populations.
