About the role
The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Texas A&M University College of Dentistry invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Associate Professor position starting September 2026.
Responsibilities
- Develop, nurture, and lead a vigorous, independent research program in biomedical sciences with an emphasis on tissue engineering and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) regeneration.
- Collaborate and support basic scientific research from the lens of tissue engineering, particularly in the use of maxillofacial regeneration and secure external funding through grants and partnerships to support innovation.
- Participate in teaching for undergraduate, graduate, and professional courses in dental and biomedical sciences.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of the department’s educational programs through innovative teaching strategies and active participation in the development of curriculum.
- Service is expected at the university, college, and departmental level.
Requirements
- Hold a DDS/DMD degree or equivalent degree.
- Hold a PhD degree in Oral Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Complete an ADA-accredited Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery residency program.
- Be Board certified or Board eligible with the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
- Be eligible for a Texas Dental License.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated level of authority in an area of expertise with participation in higher order service opportunities at the local, state, national and/or international level.
- Noteable emphasis on research activities.
- Lessed initial effort towards teaching and service to safeguard efforts to establish their laboratory within the first year of hire.
- Subsequently, effort will be adjusted to include a balance of teaching and service to strengthen activities required for advancement and promotion within the College and Texas A&M University.
Skills
- Strong research background in tissue engineering and temporomandibular (TMJ) regeneration.
