JOB DUTIES

  • Works under the supervision of the Recreation Sports Supervisor.
  • Responsible for securing reservations and collecting fees at the tennis pro shop.
  • Follows and enforces reservation policy and fee collection set up by the Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Affairs Department.
  • Balances daily cash register, completes daily reports, and delivers deposits to the Recreation Center.
  • Maintains inventory and contacts the Recreation Center to order all supplies.
  • Schedules staff to cover all hours the pro shop is open to the public.
  • Planning and facilitating tennis programming for both youth and adults.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other staff and all members of the general public.
  • Cleans the tennis pro shop and restrooms.
  • Sells tennis supplies and equipment.
  • Reports all accidents to the Recreation Sports Supervisor and/or Recreation Manager, and completely fills out proper accident/incident form.
  • May be required to squeegee the tennis courts after a heavy rain to make courts playable and perform other court maintenance as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • This position is subject to the City of Farmington's Drug and Alcohol Free Workplace Policy which includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return to duty testing, and follow-up testing.
  • Extensive background checks will be conducted.
  • Must have experience in supervision and working with the public.
  • Strong working background and knowledge of the game and rules of tennis, with a minimum of two years of progressive tennis instruction.
  • Certification in First Aid, CPR, and AED, preferred.
  • Advanced public relations skills necessary.
  • Ability to give suitable assignments and instruction to employees; to work harmoniously with associates, general public, and organizations.
  • Ability to balance a cash register and make bank deposits.
  • Ability to schedule staff effectively, and ability to work weekends, evenings, and holidays, as needed.
  • Must have a telephone at residence.

TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED

  • Telephone, mobile or portable radio, cash register, calculator, various tennis equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to walk, sit and talk or hear.
  • The employee is occasionally required to use hands to finger, handle, feel or operate objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms.
  • The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee occasionally works in outside weather conditions.
  • The employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions.
  • The noise level in the work environment is moderate while in the office, and moderately loud when in the field.
