Tennis Instructor

About the Role

Westerfield Club in Tuscaloosa, AL, is seeking a part-time Tennis Instructor to contribute to a positive experience for our members and guests while growing their knowledge of tennis operations. As an associate of Troon, you will be part of a global leader in tennis, golf, and community management.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all tennis play, ensure proper charging of fees, and manage equipment rental.
• Initiate, direct, and promote tennis clinics, special events, and programs to attract and maintain members’ interest.
• Provide beginning through advanced instruction (private and group) for all levels of players.
• Develop and implement lesson programs for adults and juniors.
• Enforce all club rules and regulations governing the use of the facility, equipment, and property.
• Represent the club in state or national events as time permits.
• Prepare a monthly calendar of events.
• Collaborate with other departments to develop combined programs for the membership.
• Inspect courts/facilities daily to ensure safety and proper maintenance, reporting issues to the department or Maintenance Manager.
• Monitor court usage, including special events, clinics, and lessons.
• Manage department members, including hiring, training, planning, assigning, and directing work, evaluating performance, and addressing complaints.
• Ensure effective orientation and ongoing training for associates.
• Monitor business volume forecasts and plan accordingly for manpower, productivity, costs, and expenses.
• Implement and maintain excellent service to achieve guest satisfaction.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree (AA) or three to five years of related experience as a head tennis professional/instructor; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• CPR, First Aid Certification, and Teaching Certification (Tennis) required.
• U.S.T.A. rating of 5.0 or better.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
