Tender Manager- Commercial Contracts- Iowa/Chicago (m/f/d)
About the role
As the Tender Manager, you will support the company’s mission to develop and deliver clean power plants that make 100% renewable energy a reality. You will work with the local Sales team, representing the Project Management organization throughout the tender and contract negotiation process. Your focus will be on risk mitigation and negotiating project execution topics with customers, such as scheduling, logistic studies, and other contractual interfaces. You will also support management during the pre-tender process, including evaluating tenders, assessing risk factors, arriving at bid decisions, and performing cost calculations to estimate material, equipment, and manpower needs for reliable cost estimates.
Responsibilities
- Lead contract negotiations for project management-related topics, virtually and in person with clients.
- Provide risk identification, review, and evaluation to internal project review teams (Sales Gate Process) and ensure risk mitigation measures are implemented into customer contract negotiations.
- Perform cost calculations to support project execution schedules and related topics such as WTG installation and crane works.
- Coordinate project schedules with internal planning, procurement, and logistics teams.
- Provide in-depth project handovers to execution teams.
- Support clients and BOP contractors with all project management-related questions during the sales phase.
- Represent the Nordex organization to clients, fostering strong relationships and delivering customer satisfaction.
- Ensure compliance with all safety regulations and company policies, proactively identifying and mitigating potential safety hazards.
- Properly use applicable safety equipment, including eye protection, hearing protectors, steel-toe boots, and hard hats.
- Communicate effectively with team members and management to ensure a safe working environment.
- Other reasonably related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Sales Engineering, Project Management, Business Management, or other relevant fields.
- 5+ years of professional experience in comparable positions, including full responsibility for multi-million-dollar contracts with strong commercial and financial knowledge.
- Contract negotiation experience, preferably in similar industries.
- Project management experience or experience working on heavy construction projects, preferably in the wind energy sector and/or turnkey construction projects.
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills.
- Proactive, able to think critically and independently.
- Motivated to find creative solutions to complex problems.
- Strong communication, coordination, and people skills.
- Professional and courteous demeanor.
- Strong software skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to travel 25% within the USA, Canada, and Germany.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to be insured under our auto insurance policy (driving is an essential function of the job).
- Ability to obtain a valid passport for international travel, including Canada.
- Fluency in English to effectively communicate safety and job-related information.
