Temporary Tutor (CfAS)

About the role

The Center for Academic Success (CfAS) at Florida International University (FIU) is seeking a Temporary Tutor-CfAS to join their team of professionals.

Responsibilities

• Conducts individual, small group, and/or online tutoring sessions.
• Reviews classroom or curricula topics and assignments.
• Aids students with homework, projects, test preparation, papers, research, and other academic tasks.
• Helps students understand key concepts, especially those learned in the classroom.
• Provides students with positive and constructive feedback.
• Participates in tutor training sessions/meetings.
• Supports projects appropriate to the department functions.

Requirements

• High School Diploma and 1 year of experience in subject areas or equivalent combination of education/experience.
• Proficiency in the subject-areas to be tutored.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule that may include evening and weekend assignments.
• Ability to relate with students from varying education, cultural, and social backgrounds.
• At least two instructor recommendations.

Under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (PPACA), a temporary employee who works on average 30 hours or more per week may be eligible to enroll in health care benefits. As a temporary employee, you are also eligible to enroll in supplemental plans (e.g. dental, vision,) which requires full payment on your part. Pay

$15.00-$20.00/Hour
