Temporary Tutor - Athletic Support

About the role

Tutors meet in face-to-face sessions in the Stevenson Educational Center with assigned student-athletes to assist them in developing academic strategies and skills. Tutors assist with curriculum-based content while instructional assistants assist with goal development, both short-term and long-term, as well as organization, time management, note taking, test preparation, critical thinking, and more. Sessions will be scheduled weekly and will continue through the entire semester. All sessions are typically 1-2 hours in length.

Syracuse is a medium-sized city situated in the geographic center of New York State approximately 250 miles northwest of New York City. The metro-area population totals approximately 500,000. The area offers a low cost of living and provides many social, cultural, and recreational options, including parks, museums, festivals, professional regional theater, and premier shopping venues. Syracuse and Central New York present a wide range of seasonal recreation and attractions ranging from water skiing and snow skiing, hiking in the Adirondacks, touring the historic sites, visiting wineries along the Finger Lakes, and biking on trails along the Erie Canal.

Responsibilities

  • Check e-mail regularly and actively use their Teamworks account to submit reports, view their calendar, and update availability.
  • Receive information about cancellations, rescheduled appointments, and mandatory trainings through e-mail.
  • Participate in mandatory meetings and training sessions; if times conflict with your schedule, arrangements may be made with the tutor coordinator.
  • Attend training sessions before receiving tutor assignments.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.

Schedule
