Temporary Social Studies/English Language Arts Teacher

Phoenix-Talent School District #4 is seeking a Social Studies and English Language Arts Teacher for Talent Middle School. This position begins August 27, 2026 for the 2026-27 school year and reports to the building administration.

About the role

Under the general supervision of the school principal, teach English language arts to middle school students with the possibility of teaching social studies at the middle school grade level as well. Prepare lessons and assessments both individually and in collaboration with content/grade level teacher teams. Deliver instruction, effectively manage the classroom environment, and meet all other professional responsibilities. This position requires a commitment to fostering a supportive learning environment for all students, ensuring all students have the opportunity to succeed while recognizing and addressing barriers to academic achievement.

Responsibilities

• Teach English language arts and social studies to middle school students.
• Prepare lessons and assessments individually and collaboratively with teacher teams.
• Deliver instruction and manage the classroom environment.
• Meet professional responsibilities and district standards for teachers.
• Foster a supportive learning environment for all students.

Requirements

• Valid Oregon Teaching License with middle school level Language Arts endorsement.
• Valid Oregon Teaching License with middle school level Social Studies endorsement preferred.
• Ability to meet job description requirements and district standards for teachers.
• Experience with Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), assessments, and best classroom practices highly desirable.
• Bilingual in Spanish and English preferred.

Qualifications

• Ability to communicate effectively with students, co-workers, and the public.
• Ability to communicate over the telephone and respond to telephones, bells, and classroom disturbances.
• Ability to respond to visual cues, student requests, and other classroom needs.
• Ability to read written material and operate office equipment.
• Ability to carry or lift light loads (up to 25 lbs).

Pay

$46,571 to $92,561, dependent on experience and education.

Schedule

• 190-day per year contract.
• 6 paid holidays per year.
