Social Studies Teacher (TEMPORARY)

About the role

This position is for a Social Science Teacher to be employed for the 2026-2027 school year at Lawndale HS and Leuzinger HS.

Responsibilities

  • Teach Social Science courses to students in grades 9-12.
  • Develop lesson plans and instructional materials aligned with state standards.
  • Assess student progress through various methods including tests, quizzes, and projects.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to implement co-teaching assignments.
  • Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching skills.

Requirements

  • A valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential: Social Science with English Learner Authorization.
  • Valid English Learner Authorization.
  • Intern eligibility or PIP/STSP eligibility may be considered (proof of eligibility required).
  • Current, valid California Teaching Credential from the CTC website.
  • Copy of CBEST test result or equivalent.
  • Official transcripts.

Qualifications

  • At least three letters of recommendation, with one from a supervisor/administrator.

Skills

  • Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience with differentiated instruction and assessment techniques.

Appropriate placement on the Teacher Salary Schedule, Salary Schedule A. Please refer to Article 3.3 of the CVSTA Collective Bargaining Agreement regarding placement on the salary schedule.
