Job Summary

The Registered Nurse leads the health care team, providing professional nursing care according to established standards and policies. Demonstrates leadership, flexibility, and adherence to organizational vision and mission.

About the Role

This role requires a minimum of 1 year recent full-time equivalent experience in acute care, ambulatory care, or home health/palliative/hospice care. A registered nurse license (California) and basic life support certification are required.

Responsibilities

  • Upholds Kaiser Permanente policies and procedures, and applicable state and federal laws.
  • Serves as a leader of the health care team, delegating tasks appropriately and demonstrating accountability.
  • Understands and supports the scope of practice for both the nurse and team members, escalating issues as necessary.
  • Communicates effectively with colleagues and patients, treating them with dignity and respect.
  • Champions new ideas and collaborates with other departments to resolve problems.
  • Mentors and coaches team members, ensuring they meet performance expectations.
  • Complies with regulatory requirements, policies, procedures, and standards of practice.
  • Develops and implements individualized patient care plans, ensuring multidisciplinary collaboration and patient education.
  • Monitors patient progress and revises care plans as needed based on patient outcomes and evaluations.
  • Maintains a safe environment for patients and colleagues, adhering to standard precautions and workplace safety principles.
  • Provides courteous and compassionate care, maintaining a clean and functional work environment.
  • Participates in departmental performance improvement activities and shares responsibility for continuous improvement.
  • Works collaboratively with the team to assess learning needs and develop an annual education plan.
  • Supports a collaborative Labor-Management Partnership environment through unit-based teams.
  • Manages work schedules to minimize overtime and identify opportunities for system improvement.
  • Utilizes payroll and non-payroll resources effectively to enhance operational efficiency.

Requirements

Basic qualifications include 1 year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in acute care, ambulatory care, or home health/palliative/hospice care. A registered nurse license (California) and basic life support certification are required.

Qualifications

Preferred qualifications include experience in a similar role, advanced certifications, and a strong commitment to patient care and team collaboration.
