Possesses strong knowledge of learning theory and instructional best practices. Consistently acts in the best interests of students and models professional, ethical behavior in all interactions. Essential Duties Plan and implement instructional activities for all students, demonstrating knowledge of subject matter and aligning instruction with Virginia Standards of Learning, district curriculum, and in collaboration with the classroom teacherUse school and division data to inform and guide instructional planningEmploy a variety of assessment tools to monitor student progress and adjust instruction to meet individual and group needsEstablish and maintain a positive, structured, and well-managed classroom environment that supports learningMaintain accurate records of student performance and attendance; communicate progress effectively with students, teachers, and familiesUtilize diverse instructional materials and strategies to engage learners and address varying needsCollaborate and communicate with staff, including classroom teachers, special education staff, gifted education staff, administrators, and volunteers, to support student achievementStay current with educational trends, research, and best practices to enhance instructional effectivenessInteract professionally with students, parents, colleagues, and community members at all timesIntegrate and model the appropriate use of technology to support teaching and learningPerform other duties as assigned Regular attendance is required. Minimum Requirements Bachelor's degree in education or a related instructional field Valid Virginia teaching license preferred, with an endorsement in Elementary Education Physical Requirements Must be able to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds frequently and 25 to 50 pounds occasionally, and may assist, move, or restrain students when required to intervene in student safety issues. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit, talk, lift, walk, stand, and hear.
