Temporary Public Safety Officer

The Montgomery College is seeking a Temporary Public Safety Officer for the Rockville campus location. Applications are accepted continuously.

About the Role

This position ensures a safe and secure environment for the College community and facilitates the efficient execution of College functions and activities. Essential functions include patrolling campus grounds, responding to emergencies, and coordinating with external agencies.

Responsibilities

• Patrol campus parking lots and surrounding grounds/facilities, noting dangers and enforcing parking policies.
• Respond to and investigate safety and security incidents, providing assistance and preparing reports.
• Conduct thorough security checks of assigned facilities, lock and unlock buildings, and control personnel/visitor access.
• Respond to emergency calls, administer first aid, and coordinate with external agencies.
• Participate in Haz-Mat training and perform related tasks.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED, and one year of continuous public safety experience at a higher education institution, or two years as a security officer.
• Valid driver’s license and evidence of a good driving record.
• Knowledge of applicable laws, fire hazards, first aid, radio communications, and electronic monitoring/alarm equipment and systems.
• Ability to perform building and area safety and security work, including patrolling and responding to emergencies.

Qualifications

Pay

The hiring range is $19.29 - $24.11 annually, with initial salary placement between the minimum and midpoint of the range based on relevant candidate experience and internal equity. The maximum salary for this position is $38.94.

Schedule

Positions are available on day shift, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., with some evenings, 3:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m., and Saturday shifts, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Evening shifts are determined by departmental needs. These positions are non-bargaining, non-exempt grade 15.
