Position Title: Temporary Public Safety Aide Parking Enforcement Officer

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assignment to patrol of housing areas
  • Patrol of other campus areas
  • Parking enforcement
  • Special events as needed
  • Other areas of the department as needed

Qualifications Required

  • High school diploma or GED certificate
  • Must complete Security Office I & II training requirements within 6 months of hire

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous Level II Security Officer with the NMSU Police Department
  • Previous law enforcement certification with favorable separation

Special Certification/Licensure

Must pass a criminal history, background, and fingerprint check. A valid New Mexico driver’s license will be required.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
  • Moderate physical activity
  • Lifting requirements: Requires handling of average-weight objects up to 10 pounds or some standing or walking
  • Risk: Exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
