Position Overview

The PMC invites qualified professionals to apply for part-time instructional positions for our in-person and online professional development classes and consulting engagements. Positions vary and are dependent upon the needs of the professional development programs, of class participants and clients, and of client organizations. The appointment dates will vary based on sequence of the professional development program, the timeframe for the preparation, and client needs. Instruction in professional development programs can range from three days per month once per year to a recurring series of days several times per year. Consulting and custom course contacts vary by the needs of the client but generally range from one to three full days of instruction or facilitation.

Job Description

  • Teach a specified number of classes for programs in a specific content area. Courses may be taught in person, hybrid, or fully online. Instructors may be asked to work with instructional design staff to plan class instruction.
  • Evaluate student work and/or provide timely feedback in the context of program learning objectives or client objectives within the parameters set by the program leader.
  • Provide feedback for students in relation to the content area outside of the classroom and within the parameters set by the program leader.
  • Facilitate class discussions within a program, bringing together curriculum content delivered by a variety of instructors linking to defined competencies and learning outcomes.
  • Aid in tracking student attendance and engagement within the learning environments.
  • When requested, design course content and assessment mechanisms within the parameters of the program or client objectives.
  • Contribute to analysis of student feedback and the PMC's discussions about continuous improvement of programs.
  • Adhere to departmental, college and university policies.

Position Requirements

  • Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a master’s degree in a related field to the content area, or a bachelor’s degree in a related field to the content area and have five or more years of work experience related to specific area of instruction. One year experience with adult professional development instruction, consulting, facilitation, or conference presentations, as evidenced on application materials.
