Temporary - Program Specialist - ESL (Centers)
About the role
The Short-Term, Non-Continuing Program Specialist will support the English as a Second Language Program at three locations: Willits/Covelo, Fort Bragg, and Lakeport. This is a temporary, non-continuing position.
Responsibilities
- Supports outreach efforts
- Distributes bilingual flyers to schools, businesses, and community partners
- Provides phone support as needed
- Affords assistance with registration events
- Coordinates with centers for ESL registration events
- Executes plans, coordinates, and conducts activities and programs
- Delivers presentations and workshops
- Serves as a liaison between Mendocino College and stakeholders
- Disseminates information on programs
- Coordinates schedules and makes appointments for stakeholders and program resources
- Attends department meetings and provides information/reports on relevant issues
- Supports stakeholders regarding program processes and sourcing other available programs and services
- Prepares and maintains various correspondence, reports, documents, and forms
- Maintains and organizes records and files
- Operates a variety of office equipment including a computer and Microsoft Office software
- Attends required meetings and professional development sessions as directed by the manager
- Occasionally travels to off-site locations for program needs
- Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish/English) required
- At least two years of experience in an administrative/educational environment
- Completion of a Live Scan background check
- Completion of a TB test
- Valid Class C driver's license
- Access to a personal vehicle
Skills
- Excellent communication skills
- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
Benefits
- Hourly position, 10-15 hours per week, up to 15 hours per week
- Hourly bilingual stipend of .30-.50 per hour, dependent on bilingual certification or test completion
- College offers a Bronze level benefit plan at the cost of the employee
- Paid Time Off: 40 hours per fiscal year
- Retirement: Eligible for CalPERS Retirement contingent upon number of hours worked within the fiscal year
Pay
- $25.22 per hour
