About the role

Florida International University (FIU) is a leading public research university located in Miami. The university offers over 200 degree programs and is home to the Wall of Wind and Institute of Environment. The Student Access and Success Department seeks a Temporary Pre-College Program Liaison to join their team.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit eligible students through school visits, presentations, information sessions, community events, and other outreach activities.
  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment activities, student inquiries, applications, and enrollment outcomes.
  • Promote program benefits, requirements, and opportunities to students, parents, and school personnel.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Pre-College Program and assigned target schools.
  • Collaborate with school personnel to identify and recruit eligible students.
  • Represent the program at school and community events, workshops, and meetings.
  • Prepare and submit monthly recruitment, outreach, and enrollment reports.
  • Track progress toward recruitment goals and recommend improvements based on data and trends.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.
  • Experience presenting information to groups of students, parents, or community stakeholders.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to travel regularly to assigned target schools, community sites, and program-related events.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends for recruitment events and program activities.
  • Experience working in a college access, TRIO, GEAR UP, Upward Bound, Talent Search, or other pre-college program.
  • Experience working directly with K-12 schools, school districts, counselors, administrators, and community-based organizations.
  • Experience developing and implementing recruitment.

Qualifications

  • Bilingual proficiency (English and Spanish, English and Haitian Creole).

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with school administrators and designated contacts.

Benefits

The position is part-time and generally Monday through Friday during regular business and school hours. Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required to support program activities, parent meetings, college fairs, and community outreach events.

Pay

$28.00-$35.00/Hour

Schedule

Monday-Friday
8:30 AM to 2:30 PM
30 hours a week
