Duties/Responsibilities
- Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping using sandpaper, removing old paint, etc.
- Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material.
- Clean and prep all materials for painting.
- Apply paint by spraying and/or rolling and/or using a brush.
- Assist other skilled tradesmen and perform related work as required.
- Move furniture and operate forklift and mobile platform.
Qualifications
- Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification
- Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools and practices of the painting trade.
- Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Ability to successfully manage hazardous waste satellite facility.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and university personnel.
- Skilled in the use of standard tools and equipment of the trade.
- Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds.
Physical Demands
- Use hands to reach and handle tools and objects;
- Climb ladders and scaffolds;
- Work from heights;
- Lift up to 40 pounds;
- Drive fork lift and vehicles.
