Temporary Painter - FMD Griffin Campus

Duties/Responsibilities

• Prepare walls and other surfaces for painting by scraping using sandpaper, removing old paint, etc.
• Fill cracks and holes with appropriate material.
• Clean and prep all materials for painting.
• Apply paint by spraying and/or rolling and/or using a brush.
• Assist other skilled tradesmen and perform related work as required.
• Move furniture and operate forklift and mobile platform.

Qualifications

• Relevant/Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure, Certification

• Thorough knowledge of the standard methods, equipment, materials, tools and practices of the painting trade.
• Considerable knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
• Ability to successfully manage hazardous waste satellite facility.
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely in writing and orally.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees and university personnel.
• Skilled in the use of standard tools and equipment of the trade.
• Ability to lift and carry 45 pounds.

Physical Demands

• Use hands to reach and handle tools and objects;
• Climb ladders and scaffolds;
• Work from heights;
• Lift up to 40 pounds;
• Drive fork lift and vehicles.
